It had been raining ALL day. And not a light drizzle – like a total monsoon of rain. I had just gotten my Pentax 645 and wad ECSTATIC to be able to shoot with it – which is also why we were really trying to make it work even with the rain. Thank goodness the weather cleared up to be the most gorgeous day. I mean, look at that light!!
We were hopeful that it would clear up so we kept moving the time around to when the forecast showed that the chances of rain were a bit lower. To give you an idea of how dedicated I was to keeping the shoot on, I literally ordered a clear umbrella to pick up from Target that morning and told Andria to put together a cute rainy day outfit – hah!
To be honest, it had me totally inspired to do a rainy day shoot and I found lots of Pinterest inspo that I now am dying to use the clear umbrella!
For my photog friends, I was able to find a Pentax 645 with a 105mm 2.4 lens + adapter and film back all from a wonderful local photographer. Can you even believe?!
For non-photog friends, since film is all very old school it is a struggle to find gear. I was planning on buying all of the pieces separately on Ebay from Japan. Doing that would mean waiting a month or more probably to get it all delivered and I would have been so bummed.
Anyway, my first shoot with the Pentax 645! I’m so excited for how beautifully all of the images came out. Thank you to The Find Lab for these beautiful scans! There are a couple 35mm scans from my Canon Elan 7 in here as well – specifically the duck photos.
Speaking of the ducks, how cute?! We did this shoot at Tilles Park which has a little dock with a lake. We had so much fun watching all of the cute little ducks.
Photog friends, what was your first experience like with shooting medium format? St. Louis friends, have you visited Tilles Park? It’s so pretty, highly recommend! Scroll through to see all of the pics, the cute ducks, etc.
