Ashley & Ryan’s Forest Park Jewel Box engagement session was so perfect! I love working with couples where it feels like we just CLICK. That is definitely the case with these two! For their engagement session, they said they’d love to do part of their photos at The Jewel Box as a surprise to Ashley’s parents who had their wedding ceremony there. So sweet!
I knew I immediately liked them when they suggested we meet IRL for their initial meeting (vs a phone call!) at Rockwell Beer Garden. I knew I definitely, definitely liked them when I ended up having to call and text Ashley on my way there with confusion on the right location + it was probably 100 degrees out when we arrived there (it’s all outside!) and they were SO chill, so nice. We had the best time lounging in the outdoor courtyard and chatting. I LOVED the vision they had for their wedding, and am so excited to be a part of their day!
We started their session at the Grand Basin (such a gorgeous, classic backdrop!) popping champagne. The best way to kick off your engagement session if you ask me! We strolled along the basin and made our way up to the Art Museum before heading to the Jewel Box! Ashley’s first dress was SO cute with the twirl-worthy layers and chic, playful polka dots. Love! She then changed into an equally-as-cute blue jumpsuit. I always tell couples they should wear whatever their comfortable in but sometimes it’s fun to do a dressier look and a more laid-back look for their second outfit. I LOVED the jumpsuit as an elevated laid back look!
This was also one of my first sessions shooting with Kodak Gold 120 film! I did half Kodak Gold and half Portra 400 120 film. Can you spot the difference?! Photovision Prints killed it (as per usual) with matching my usual style on both film stocks. Portra 400 is forever my favorite film, but I absolutely loved the soft pastel look of Gold! I will definitely continue experimenting with this new film!
Overall, this was such a fun session and I am so excited for their wedding day! Scroll through to see more from their Forest Park Jewel Box engagement session!
